Update 1 for Anime Expeditions is finally live, and everyone in the community is grinding for the new top-tier unit: Prodigy (based on Gohan from Dragon Ball).
Prodigy is a Secret rarity unit, which means you cannot get him from the normal summon banners, no matter how many gems you drop. Instead, you have to complete a specific questline called The Scholar's Trial.
He hits super hard, has insane AoE (Area of Effect) damage, and evolves into Prodigy (Rage), making him a must-have Meta unit for high-difficulty modes and farming expeditions.
If you want to unlock him in under an hour without wasting time, this complete step-by-step guide covers all quests and the fastest shortcuts to finish them.
Step 1: Where to Find the Prodigy Quest NPC
To start the questline, you don't need to check any menus or talk to lobby NPCs. Follow these steps:
- Spawn into East Town - Story Act 1.
- Run past the spawn area toward the basketball court.
- You will see Gohan (Prodigy) standing near the court.
- Interact with him and accept The Scholar's Trial.
Once you open his quest log, you'll see 8 different tasks. They look like a lot of work, but you can stack them up and clear them quickly using a few tricks.
Step 2: Full Quest Breakdown & Fast Farming Tricks
Here is every single task in the trial and how to speedrun it.
Task 1: Complete East Town (1 Time)
- What to do: Beat East Town Story Act 1 once.
- Tip: If you've played the game for a bit, your normal lineup will wipe this map in a few minutes.
Task 2: Evolve 1 Unit
- What to do: Take any unit you own and evolve them in the lobby.
- Tip: Evolve any cheap unit like Goku or Cell if you haven't already, since you need both of them for the later tasks anyway.
Task 3: Participate in 1 Tournament
- What to do: Join a tournament match from the lobby.
- Shortcut: You do not need to win the tournament. Just join the match, place down one basic unit, and go AFK. Let the enemies leak and destroy your base. When the defeat screen pops up, it still counts as participating.
Task 4 & 5: Clear 150 Waves with Bio Insect (Cell) & Carrot (Goku)
- Requirement 1: Clear 150 waves while using Bio Insect (Cell's evolved form).
- Requirement 2: Clear 150 waves while using Carrot Unleashed (Goku's evolved form).
Do this instead:
- Equip both Bio Insect (Cell) and Carrot Unleashed (Goku) in your active deck.
- Go to King's Tomb - Mastery Mode.
- In Mastery Mode, waves pass extremely fast because only Boss units spawn.
- One full run takes only around 1 minute and 30 seconds.
- Enable Auto Play, place down your units, and let it run.
- Doing around 10 quick runs in King's Tomb Mastery will instantly max out your 150 waves requirement for both units in less than 15 minutes!
Task 6 & 7: Expeditions & Collecting Mechanical Scraps
This is the part where most players get stuck, but the path is straightforward once you know where items drop.
- Requirement 1: Collect 350 Mechanical Scraps.
- Requirement 2: Beat the Boss Node in East Town Difficulty 3.
How to unlock and farm it fast:
- Mechanical Scraps only drop in Expedition 4.
- To unlock Expedition 4, go to Expedition 3, set it to Difficulty 3, and clear at least one Boss Node.
- Once Expedition 4 is unlocked, start a run and look at the path map before moving.
- Always pick the path that shows the highest Mechanical Scrap rewards.
- You don't have to finish the whole expedition map in one go. Collect as many scraps as you can, clear a boss node, and hit Cash Out / Extract to save your loot safely.
Task 8: Complete Prodigy Unit Trial
- What to do: Once all previous tasks are done, talk to the NPC again to enter his final Unit Trial.
- Tip: Bring your best boss-killing units. Beat Gohan in this trial match to claim your rewards.
Rewards Summary
When you finish all 8 steps in The Scholar's Trial, you will receive:
- Secret Unit: Prodigy (Gohan)
- Exclusive Relic/Accessory: Mechanical Wings
How to Evolve Prodigy to Prodigy (Rage)
Getting base Prodigy is great, but evolving him pushes his DPS to game-breaking levels.
To evolve Prodigy into Prodigy (Rage), you will need:
- Base Prodigy Unit
- Rage Shards / Evolution Materials (farmed from East Town High-Difficulty Expedition Nodes)
- Gold for the evolution recipe
Final Tips for F2P Players
- Team Setup: Bring at least 1 farm unit (like Speedwagon or Bulma) into Expeditions so you can max out your damage units before hitting the Boss Node.
- Co-op: If you are under-leveled for Expedition 3 (Difficulty 3), hop into the Discord or lobby chat and ask a high-level player to carry you through the Boss Node. It only takes a couple of minutes!
