Hey guys! I’ve been playing Anime Expeditions non-stop since it dropped. After spending way too many hours grinding, making a bunch of dumb mistakes, and checking out what other top players in the community are doing, I put together the ultimate Day 1 Beginner Guide.
If you just joined the game and feel a little lost (or you don't want to waste your super rare Gems and Rerolls), read this first! Here is everything you need to do on your first day and how to avoid the biggest beginner traps.
Step 1: Your First 10 Minutes (Do These Instantly!)
When you spawn into the lobby for the very first time, do not just run straight into random portals! Do these three things first to get a massive boost:
Redeem All Active Codes
Check the code page to redeem all working code. You’ll get a free stack of Gems and Trait Rerolls right off the bat.
Follow the "Beginner's Path" Quest Line
Look for the Beginner's Path event tab on your screen. Do NOT ignore this! Following Chapters 1 and 2 gives you:
- Free Summon Tickets
- Free Gems
- Basic Equipment
- A Free Farm Unit (super important for making money in matches!)
Claim Your Free Event Character!
Here’s a secret many new players miss: if you enter the Release Tournament event and lose on purpose (or win, doesn't matter!), the game literally gives you Toy Maker for FREE. She is an awesome character to have early on, so go grab her right away!
Step 2: The BIGGEST Beginner Trait & Reroll Traps (Read This!)
This is where 90% of new players ruin their accounts. Trait Crystals and Rerolls are super rare, and if you waste them on the wrong characters early on, you will regret it big time later.
⚠️ TRAP #1: Don't Waste All Your Rerolls on Normal Mythics!
When you pull your first Mythic character, it’s super tempting to throw 50 Rerolls at them to get a cool-sounding trait. DO NOT DO THIS!
Standard Mythics get powercrept (outclassed) quickly as new updates come out. Save your Rerolls for:
- Secret Units (like Shadow or Megumi from the summon banner)
- Raid Drops (like 8th Sword / Kempi)
⚠️ TRAP #2: Not Giving Your Money Units the "Investor" Trait
You CANNOT clear hard stages without money farmers like Ramen Guy or Stone Alchemist. But here’s the trick: a money farmer without the right trait is only half as good.
- Reroll your Ramen Guy's trait until you hit Investor (+25% Money Boost). It’s a Legendary trait with a 2% drop chance, so it's fairly easy to get. This extra cash is what lets you upgrade your big damage carries before the boss wave hits!
Step 3: Story Mode & Progression Hacks
Now that you have your team set up, it’s time to push through the maps. Here is how to level up fast without getting stuck:
[Main Story (Normal)] ➡️ [Hard Story (For 2x Gems)] ➡️ [Matchmake Challenges for Sprites]Clear Normal Story, Then Double Back to Hard Story!
When you beat a map on Normal, don't just move on forever. Go back and beat it on Hard Mode! Hard Mode has completely separate First-Time Completion Rewards, giving you double the Gems and +1 Reroll for every star mission you complete.
What to Do When You Get Stuck (Struggling on Challenges?)
Early game challenges can be super tough if you play solo. If you keep losing:
- Farm Food: Go back to the highest story stage you can beat easily and farm it for XP Food. Level up your main carries!
- Use Matchmaking: Don't fight solo! Step into the Matchmaking circle for Challenges so higher-level players can help carry you through the stage.
NEVER Sell Duplicate Mythics!
If you pull two of the exact same Mythic unit, do not sell the duplicate for gold! Use your Sprites (from Challenges) to Ascend your unit. Ascending increases their raw attack stat and range, making them way stronger.
🎒 Step 4: Mid-Game Secrets (Equipment & Mastery)
Once you beat a few chapters, you’ll unlock Mastery Stages under the Infinite tab. This is where the game gets really fun!
- Fastest Gem Farming: Mastery stages only spawn Bosses (no long waves of weak mobs), meaning you can clear them in under 2 minutes for fast Gems.
- Get Unit Equipment: When you evolve (Evo) a unit, go do their specific anime Mastery stage to farm their Unit Equipment. Putting exclusive gear on an Evolved unit doesn't just boost their stats—it actually gives them EXTRA PASSIVE SKILLS!
🔮 Step 5: What is Expedition Mode? (And Why You Should Play It)
When you unlock Expedition Mode, it might look a little confusing with all the shops, drills, and payload tracks. Don't worry, here’s all you need to know:
- Rent Units Even If You're Weak: Inside the Expedition shop, you can hire level 50 Evolved units to help you fight. This means even if your main team is low level, you can still play and win!
- Build Your AFK Base: The resources you get from Expedition runs are used to upgrade your Resource Drill and Gold Mine in the main lobby. Leveling these up lets you farm Gold and Items passively in the background while you sleep or go to school!

Q1 Is a team of 6 pure damage units the best build?
A: Nope! Full damage teams will lose in hard modes. The best team setup is usually: 2 Carries + 1 Buffer (Gojo or The Hero) + 1 Freeze/Slow Support (Salmon Sorcerer) + 2 Money Farmers.
Q2 How do I know if a unit's attack speed (SPA) is good?
A: Units usually attack slow at Level 1 (like 4 seconds per hit). But as you upgrade them inside a match, their attack delay goes down dramatically. Always check their max-level stats!
Q3 Why does my S-Tier unit feel super weak?
A: You're probably missing their Gear and Trait! An S-Tier character with an Unbound trait or a Magic Book gear piece will deal up to 3x more damage than a base version.
